MOTIVATION FOR STUDYING FILIPINO COMBAT MARTIAL ARTS
Statistically, 1 out of 4 women in America HAVE
been raped. A rapist continues his savage sexual assaults an average of 10 -
12 times before he is caught. I am using statistics from the FBI public data
banks. It is my wish to teach, and continue contributing the knowledge I
have been graciously given so that more women may be armed with techniques
that will prevent or end an assault.
Also, I, nor any of my family wants to EVER be a victim! I hate bullies
and assailants or anyone who wishes harm on an innocent person. It is also
a fact that it would be rare to legally be armed with anything other than
my empty hands or the ordinary items one may have in their possession. I
have been taught how to effectively utilize virtually anything as a
weapon. Now I teach others how to use such things as a pen, shoe, hat,
glasses, book, or just about anything one can put in their hands, in
addition to using their empty hands.
Of course, in the Filipino Martial Arts we are taught weaponry from the
beginning due to the fact that most assailants use weapons. The philosophy
that in order to properly and effectively defend or counter offend a
weapon attack is usually determined by ones own weapons knowledge makes
complete sense to me. As Tuhon constantly stated during her
teachings, "how can you defend against a weapon if you know nothing about
the weapon."
